An immersive experience dedicated to discovering the handpan, an instrument that combines sound, rhythm, and presence.
This retreat is designed for those who want to approach the handpan in a conscious way, starting with the technical basics and moving on to listening, coordination, and improvisation, in a welcoming and non-performative context.
Guiding the journey is Riccardo Mollo, a musician and teacher with over 17 years of experience, who accompanies students on a path that intertwines music, awareness, and personal growth.
During the day on Saturday, we will explore:
- Introduction to the handpan, history, and birth of the instrument
- Scales, materials, and circular logic of notes
- Posture, touch, and sound quality
- First melodies and conscious listening
- Rhythmic awareness, groove, and pulsation
- Coordination between ding and notes
- First approach to improvisation
The day will end with a handpan concert and aperitif, to share the sound in an informal and vibrant space.
The extra masterclass on Sunday is dedicated to rhythmic exploration:
- Konnakol and rhythmic solfeggio
- Vocal counting and subdivisions
- Structures in 4/4, 3/4, and 6/8
- Relationship between voice, body, and sound
Riccardo Mollo is a musician and teacher with over 17 years of experience.
In his work, he combines musical technique, deep listening, and awareness, accompanying students on a journey that goes beyond simply learning the instrument.
His approach to the handpan is experiential rather than performative: sound becomes a means of developing presence, coordination, listening, and relationships with oneself and others.
During the retreat, Riccardo guides participants step by step, creating a space that is accessible even to those who are new to the instrument, where technique, rhythm, and musical sensitivity integrate naturally.
